Hello, I am Oliver

A few years ago I moved here with my family, and what started as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
The Beginning
Moving to United Kingdom wasn't in the long-range plan. As with many expat relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more substantial.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar processes, new routines, heightened expectations. Daily chores seemed more cumbersome than expected.
The Transition Phase
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of hands-on learning. Gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, met other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Built Still Ridge Candle
Most online guidance was either corporate relocation advice or shallow tourism content. What was missing was a candid, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in United Kingdom.
